Quitting our Oil Dependency

Quitting our Oil Dependency

How to protect our communities from global oil volatility for a healthier Australia.

Australia’s dependence on oil leaves households, communities, hospitals and other essential services exposed to global instability, yet our abundant renewable resources offer a path to a cleaner, healthier and more resilient future.

Join DEAs Dr Kate Wylie in discussion with Peter Holding (Farmers for Climate Action), Dr Kim Humphrey (DEA) and Francis Vierboom (Rewiring Australia), as they explore the impact of the Middle East conflict.

We will discuss the health costs in Australia and globally, emphasise the impacts in rural communities and on agriculture and then most importantly, discuss what solutions we can bring to the situation, such as electrifying transport, funding infrastructure in rural communities and strengthening sustainable farming systems.

The conflict in the middle east is a health and human rights catastrophe, but it is also an impetus for change that we should take advantage of for a healthier, more sustainable and resilient Australia.

Tuesday March 31st starting at 7:30pm AEDT.
Zoom link will be sent with your ticket receipt and emailed again one hour before the webinar begins.
